General Information for Presenters

  • Sessions will be held on Thursday and Friday (See Agenda)
  • Sessions at the conference are 1:15 hours in length.
  • Sessions will consist of practitioners, experts in their respective fields, and academicians.
  • We welcome proposals from those who are currently engaged in fields related to Indigenous business and entrepreneurship.
  • Proposals should address the conference main theme and related topics such as:
    1. Financing Indigenous Business Ventures:
      Venture Capital & Indigenous Entrepreneurship; Developing Financial Products for Indigenous Ventures; and Investing in Indigenous Human.
    2. Barriers Facing Indigenous Business Ventures:
      Indigenous Legal & Insurance Business Issues; Incubators and Indigenous Enterprises; Infrastructure, and Environmentally Friendly Technologies.
    3. Ecotourism, Channels of Distribution Strategies and Patents & Trademarks:
      Indigenous ecotourism strategies, Indigenous trademarks and patents, channels of distribution for Indigenous products, services, and technologies.
    4. Exporting & E-Commerce Strategies:
      Exporting Strategies for Indigenous Business Ventures, and E-Commerce Strategies for Indigenous Business Ventures.
    5. Indigenous Business Opportunities Media, Fashion, and Design:
      media, Indigenous fashion & design industry.
    6. Indigenous Entertainment Industry & Gaming:
      Indigenous Entertainment Industry and Indigenous Gaming.
    7. Indigenous Forestry, Mining, Fishing, and Hunting:
      Indigenous mining ventures; forestry, and fishing & hunting ventures.
    8. The Role of Regional, Federal, NGOs, and Multilateral Agencies in Promoting Indigenous Entrepreneurship:
      The role of state agencies, the role of federal agencies, the role of the World Bank, IFC, ILO, United Nations, and the role of NGOs.

Conference Logistics for Presenters

Conference presenters are responsible for their own travel, lodging, conference registration, and related conference expenses including reproduction of handouts.


Audio-Visual Assistance

Standard media support for presenters will be provided. This includes:

  • Overhead projectors
  • Screens
  • Microphones
  • Flipchart packages
  • Slide projectors
  • TV/VCR

Requirements for Proposals and Proposal Form

Submit the attached proposal form no later than September 15, 2007. Please indicate if you want your power point presentation to be posted on the conference website. Your presentation will available on line after October 19, 2007.

Indicate session title, biography, and description as requested. (These items will be in the Conference Program.) Attach an abbreviated CV with your proposal.
